Toshie Izuno
Toshie Izuno, 98, of Kealakekua, died Dec. 11, 2016, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Aug. 4, 1918, in Kealakekua, she was a retired self-employed coffee and flower farmer. She was a member of Akitsu Gumi, Kumamoto Kenjinkai, and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Private services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by her sons, Clive (Charlotte) Izuno and Mark Izuno, all of Kealakekua; daughters, Julie Harada of Gardena, Calif., Violet (Samuel) Sullivan of Missouri, and Jenny Nakashima of Kealakekua; 13 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan Balico
Susan Marion Balico, 59, of Ocean View, died Dec. 7, 2016, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hialeah, Fla., on June 5, 1957, she was a prep cook, food waitress and a bartender at several local restaurants.

She is survived by her sons, Star Shortt of Kailua-Kona, Sidney (Lacey) Shortt of Waikoloa, Dane Shortt of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Tiffany (Bulla DeSilva) Shortt of Waimea, Bianca (Jacob Thompson) Shortt of Waimea, Brittany (Noah Shaw) Shortt of Kawaihae; brother, Frank Mallace of Napoopoo; 10 grandchildren.

Masamitsu Okinaka
Masamitsu Okinaka, 87, of Hilo, died Dec. 5, 2016, at his residence in Hilo. He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Hilo and was retired from the State of Hawaii Highways Division as a surveyor. He was a member of Toho No Hikari (Church of World Messianity).
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 23 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is requested. No flowers. No koden (monetary offerings).
He is survived by sons, Kip (Shannon) Okinaka of Aiea and Chad (Kristen) Okinaka of Hilo; brothers, Don (Jane) Okinaka of Honolulu, Yoshio (Setsuko) Okinaka of Nevada, Robert (Pauline) Okinaka of Hilo and Stanley (Carol Tokuda) Okinaka of Hilo; sister, Jane Doi of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Gabriel Sentesy
Gabriel Joseph Sentesy, 84, of Waikoloa, born in Chicago March 8, 1932, and died Dec. 5, 2016. Gabriel served his country in the Army and worked as a plant manager at a water treatment plant.
Friends are welcome for 9 a.m. visitation and 10 a.m. military honors and Mass on Dec. 21 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kamuela.
He is survived by hanai son Renato (Maura) Simbulan of Waikoloa; and cousin Nicholas (Linda) Kamp of Templeton, California.
